Work with the Poor

Work with the Poor (WWP) is an integral part of CFC-FFL's social ministries.   We are called to serve the least of our brethren, and encouraged to work with brothers and sisters in the community and in our parishes to help the poor throughout the world.

Efforts are under way to provide a means to serve the poor by not only providing housing, but also fraternal caring and most importantly programs of faith renewal.  Please refer to the international website.

Please pray for our brothers and sisters in the Philippines who have been hit with devastating winds and flooding.  We are currently organizing ways to help our brethren.

Option 1: Donate cash and checks made payable to CFC USA, with a memo "Ondoy Funds".  These will be deposited directly into the CFC Philippines account, who are in the middle of ongoing relief efforts.

Option 2: Send non-perishable food and new/lightly used clothing.  Dave Villarosa has coordinated with Forex to have these delivered to the Philippines at no charge.  The donated items need to be in plastic bags (not boxes) as they will be sorted by Forex before sending to the Philippines.  The next shipment is planned for October 9, 2009.  For CFC members, please contact your household head to plan for pickup/delivery.  For non CFC members, you can drop off your donations at:

Local Projects

Goldsmith Stadium Cleaning - CFC will continue its volunteer duties to clean the high school football stadium in 2009 to raise funds for WWP.  Please inquire through your household head for available time slots.  (SCHEDULE)

Food Drive - Food is collected at every General Prayer Assembly, and delivered to various parishes through DFW..

Dinner/Dance - Currently in planning for August 29, 2009 to benefit WWP.

Christmas Magnets - Christmas Magnets with the message "Keep Christ in Christmas" will be on sale at the December Assembly and the CFC-FFL Dallas Christmas party.

Operation Care - Sign up for helping the poor in the Dallas, TX area on Dec. 13, 2008 at operationcaredallas.org at the link: Christmas Gift 2008.  There are many categories available to help at.

White Rock Marathon -  Bro. Lito Dancel will be running for the poor at the White Rock Marathon.  His company, CDC (Curtain Wall Design Inc.) has sponsored Bro. Lito for the run with $2000 to build a home in the Philippines through Work with the Poor.  He is also taking individual donations to be given directly to Work with the Poor.  CFC members can meet him at the finish line on Dec. 14 at the American Airlines Center.  CFC members will be meeting around 11am at American Airlines Center.

Christmas Caroling at Nursing Homes - Contact Bro Bong Acogido for the Denton/Lewisvill area (Dec. 6,  20 & 24).  Contact Bro Rowell Balais or Bro Danton Avila for the Plano/Frisco area, or email cfctexas@gmail.com.

CFC-FFL Christmas Party Silent Auction - Donated items will be auctioned off during the Christmas party.  All proceeds will go towards Work with the Poor.  Please email cfctexas@gmail.com if you would like to donate items for the silent auction.
